Clean your kitchen sink and disposal – give your sink its shine again!
We all may think that our kitchen sink is already clean each time we use it. After all, we always see water running through it, right? Of course, that is not enough to kill the germs and bacteria. We should be sanitizing our sinks often! Here are some tips for you to sanitize your disposal and give your sink its shine again without the use of strong and harmful chemical cleaners.
Here’s what you’ll need:
* Dishwashing soap
* Distilled white vinegar
* Baking soda
* Sea Salt
* Ice cubes
* Boiling water
* Old toothbrush
* Paper towels
STEP 1: Start off with a sponge and liquid soap. Clean the sink’s surface by gently wiping it (using strong chemicals like bleach or other cleaners may affect your sink if it’s stainless). Rinse well with running water and sprinkle some baking soda on the sink surface and rinse it thoroughly.
STEP 2: Soak paper towels in distilled white vinegar and place over the whole sink. Let it sit there for about 20 minutes, then dispose of the paper towels.
STEP 3: Now clean the garbage disposal area with your old toothbrush and some dish soap. Next, sprinkle some baking soda down the disposal – about a half cup should do the trick. Allow it to sit for a few minutes, then pour in boiling water.
STEP 4: Mix some ice cubes with salt and put the mixture in the sink and let the water run through it until it dissolves the ice; it will grind up debris and grime inside the disposal.
STEP 5: Cut a lemon in half and let water flow from it on the sink to the disposal, use the lemon to also wipe the entire sink which will sanitize, deodorize the disposal, and will make your sink as well as new.
FINALLY: Toss your two lemons in the disposal, run the disposal and Voilà! You now have a nice clean sink.
